Technology

Man has relied on wood since the early times. Our predecessors used wood as a natural shield against the elements and predators. With time, man learned to process massive tree logs into complex structures. As centuries went by, wooden houses became increasingly elaborate. They were no longer regarded as merely the means of protection, but became a symbol of wealth and sophistication. Their creators went to great lengths to design refined shapes and unique architectural solutions. Unfortunately, the construction industry ultimately gave in to the overwhelming influence of stone. Massive blocks of granite, followed by cement slabs, were the milestones of that dismal era.
Today, wooden construction has made a fully-deserved come back. Home-owners are once again able to breathe freely in wooden houses saturated with the wonderful aroma of nature. Wooden houses are light, yet extremely durable and pervaded with natural light. We are no longer doomed to monumental blocks of concrete which overshadow the horizon and drive away the spirit of nature with their massive bodies. Home-owners can finally enjoy lasting peace in rooms filled with the aroma of the woods, illuminated with the delicate glow of wood.
Mazurskie Domy is a guarantee of a healthy,safe and durable home. |
Our houses are available in the following systems:
- Single profiled spruce logs with the thickness of 45 mm, 70 mm, 90 mm, 150 mm or 220 mm, with a double tongue-and-groove connection;
- Double profiled logs with the thickness of 2 x 70 mm or 2 x 90 mm, with insulation between logs;
- Round logs with the diameter of 180 mm, 200 mm as well as 220 mm upon customer request.
Mazurskie Domy uses wood from the northern regions of Poland known as the "lungs of Europe", which is why our homes deliver top quality and durability!

Reasons why Mazurskie Domy homes are the best choice:
Mazurskie Domy uses professional machinery, experienced staff and top-quality materials.
Mazurskie Domy has been building wooden houses for over ten years on the Polish and European market – mainly in Germany. We have vast experience in this type of construction. The quality of our homes is equivalent to the standards offered by renowned foreign constructors but at a much lower cost.
Contrary to other house builders who rely on the single log system with rock wool insulation, wooden panel or gypsum board interior finishing, Mazurskie Domy homes are built in the double log technology, comprising logs with the thickness of 2 x 70 mm or 2 x 90 mm and a 100 mm layer of ecofibre insulation (cellulose insulation with a low heat transmission factor of k = 0.039 W/mk) between the logs. Ecofibre is made of newsprint paper, which in itself is a wood derivative, and has similar properties to wood that enable the house to breathe.

Our technology preserves the solid log appearance both outside and inside the house. Our homes are not a mere imitation of wooden homes finished with wood panels on the inside. Just compare the quantity of wood used in the two construction technologies!
Mazurskie Domy homes have excellent heat transmission properties (e.g. the heat transmission factor for a 2 x 70 log wall is k=0.24) that substantially cut heating costs.

Logs are interconnected with the double tongue-and-groove joint. Additional process holes are drilled for wooden dowels. Our homes are assembled without the use of nails in accordance with top carpentry practice.
Logs used for wall construction are not saturated with chemicals but are treated through immersion in the boron salt solution. Logs are naturally dried to achieve a moisture level of 14-18% and to preserve their structure. This method of treatment enhances the wood's heat insulation properties and causes the logs to adhere closely to one another.

After the house is built, walls on the external side are protected with environmentally-friendly proofing agents in the colour selected by the client. On the inside, walls are protected against dust settlement by waxing. Beeswax gives the surface of the wood a unique appearance and a silky glow. Beeswax has been long known for its therapeutic properties. The wood is not locked under a layer of chemicals, but is allowed to breathe freely, producing an aroma characteristic to the given type of wood.

Thanks to the applied technology, wooden walls propagate air circulation in and out of the house, ensuring that the house has a stable and friendly climate. Conventional insulation methods with the use of rock wool require an additional layer of insulation foil, causing the wooden house to lose its natural properties. Naturally breathing wooden walls become a dead structural framework which does not benefit the health of its inhabitants.

Owing to the presence of boron compounds, ecofibre is not only biodegradable but also prevents the growth of fungi on wooden structures. Unlike styrofoam and certain types of rock wool, ecofibre also protects the wood from insects and rodents. Ecofibre is a slow-burning material which does not propagate fire. Ecofibre protects structural materials from fire and ensures their durability (for more information, please refer to the manufacturer's technical data).

The roof structure is designed and built in a way which enables the client to choose any type of roof cover (ceramic or bituminous roofing tiles, thatch, shingle, etc.). Larger rafter sections are often applied to emphasise the beauty of the house.

One of the main advantages of the applied technology is the fact that the walls of the finished house structure do not require costly and time-consuming finishing. The house is practically ready for use after all media connections have been made. As a result, the offered construction technology is ultimately faster and cheaper than other methods available on the market.
